Atlanta Hawks Rekindle Partnership with Peachtree TV

Hawks Soar Back to Peachtree TV

After a hiatus of nearly three decades, the Atlanta Hawks are making a triumphant return to Peachtree TV, rekindling a relationship that began over forty years ago. Starting January 12, 2024, Peachtree TV is set to broadcast every Friday night Hawks game for the remainder of the 2023-24 NBA season, with one exception. The channel will air the March 10 game against New Orleans instead of the previously scheduled game on March 8th.

The partnership revives memories of past broadcasts, with the Hawks games once being a staple on WPCH from 1972-1994 and WANF from 1986-1993. In a nod to history, the first two games under the new agreement will be simultaneously aired on both Peachtree TV and WANF, offering fans multiple platforms to catch the action live.

Fans across Georgia and Alabama can look forward to accessing live Hawks games not only on Peachtree TV but also through major cable and satellite services, as well as various Gray TV stations. This expanded coverage ensures that a wider audience will have the opportunity to engage with the team's performances.

A Dynamic Commentary Team

The broadcast experience promises to be immersive, featuring the seasoned Bally Sports Southeast production team. Dominique Wilkins, Bob Rathbun, and Tabitha Turner will provide expert commentary, bringing their deep knowledge and passion for the game into living rooms. Additionally, Baillie Burmaster, the Sports Director from WANF, will lend her expertise to the broadcasts, further enhancing the viewing experience.

The Friday night lineup is packed with high-stakes matchups, including games against formidable opponents like the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, Phoenix Suns, and Philadelphia 76ers. These contests are sure to captivate audiences and showcase the competitive spirit of the Hawks.

Expanding Local Sports Coverage

Peachtree TV has a history of supporting local sports, having broadcasted games for the College Park Skyhawks since 2019. This extension into NBA territory with the Hawks' games is a natural progression for the channel, promising to deliver top-tier basketball entertainment to its viewership.

However, the Hawks are looking to bounce back from recent setbacks, such as the disheartening loss to the Sacramento Kings, where a significant lead was squandered due to a lackluster second-half performance. Key players Dejounte Murray and Bogdan Bogdanovic saw their contributions dwindle, scoring just two and three points respectively after halftime. The team's shooting accuracy took a hit, with field goal percentages plummeting to 28.9 percent and three-point success rates dropping to a mere 21.7 percent in the latter stages of the game.

Leadership Perspectives

Amidst these challenges, leaders within the organization have voiced their commitment to the team's growth and fan engagement. Andrew Saltzman, an executive with the Hawks, emphasized the value of the new broadcasting arrangement, stating, "It provides fans a new, complimentary way to view the games." He expressed excitement about the deal and gratitude towards Peachtree TV and Gray TV for their collaboration, recognizing the benefits it will bring to the Hawks' local fan base.

Erik Schrader shared similar sentiments, pointing out the potential to reach new audiences while honoring long-time supporters. "Bringing the Hawks back to broadcast television provides accessibility to all fans," he remarked, highlighting the inclusive nature of the initiative.

From a coaching perspective, Quin Snyder stressed the need for "better execution and a collective approach" moving forward. Meanwhile, player Clint Capela candidly addressed the team's frustration and underscored the "urgent need for a tactical shift" to overcome recent hurdles.

With this renewed media partnership, the Atlanta Hawks are poised to not only enhance their presence on the court but also deepen their connection with fans off it. As the season progresses, the team's resolve will be tested, and with the support of their partners and the loyalty of their fans, the Hawks aim to soar to new heights. The stage is set for thrilling Friday nights, filled with the promise of victory and the passion of basketball, all accessible from the comfort of home.
